    Orange Uganda appoints Alcatel-Lucent

    PARIS: Alcatel-Lucent announced yesterday, 9 October 2009, that Orange Uganda has selected Alcatel-Lucent to reduce its global network maintenance costs and improve network operating efficiencies. Alcatel-Lucent will build, operate and manage the Orange Uganda mobile network, by providing technical support, repair, field maintenance and program management services.

    This full managed services contract is a in Uganda as well as in East Africa, according to Alcatel-Lucent.

    “By choosing Alcatel-Lucent to oversee our network maintenance, we're able to streamline network operations with a common set of processes and to increase scalability, while simultaneously reducing costs, simplifying maintenance and delivering the consistent service levels our customers expect,” said Philippe Luxcey, CEO of Orange Uganda. “Our goal is to focus on our core business, and Alcatel-Lucent helps us achieve this by providing a comprehensive maintenance services portfolio, global delivery capability, and strong technical skills we need to help us deliver enhanced services more reliably to our customers.”
