Newspapers seized by security services in Sudan
Agents of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) confiscated the print run of Al Mashhad newspaper last Wednesday morning, and similarly seized of the daily newspapers of Al Gharar and Akhir Lahza on Thursday, without providing reasons.
Journalists told Radio Dabanga that the security agents arrived at the printing works early on Wednesday morning and confiscated all copies of the paper before distribution.
The Sudanese Journalists Network and Journalists for Human Rights have condemned the confiscation of newspapers by the security apparatus, asserting that confiscation of newspapers is inconsistent with the right of expression, press freedom and the Constitution of Sudan.
