Comztek gets Southern African HP distribution rights

HP has announced that Comztek has been awarded the HP networking distribution rights for the Southern Africa region, following its award of the South African rights to the company in August 2010.

In terms of the agreement, the company's resellers and customer base within Southern Africa (Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe) will now have access to the HP networking products and services range.

HP Networking MEMA Channel Sales and marketing manager Thierry Dumont says, "The company's channel centric model means the role of our distributor is key to servicing and supporting the breadth of the channel. The decision to award Comztek the Southern Africa distribution rights is based on its performance and how it will aid in extending the brand and reach within these countries.

"Its strong position within the networking arena will complement our vision and strategies for these countries. We are pleased to welcome the company to our current distribution landscape," adds Dumont.

"The distribution business in Africa is a complex one but we've established ourselves and grown our footprint and credibility based on the fact that we're more than a distributor. We see ourselves as a systems integrator who happens to be in distribution," says Tiens Lange, Comztek's business unit manager for rest of Africa.

"Distribution rights across Southern Africa will enable us to expand our strong performance in South Africa to eight African countries and will allow us to provide a stronger offering for the SMB and mid market tiers.

"Our relationship with HP extends back to 3Com days, thus we have a solid understanding of what the brand needs and know how to effectively implement its strategy both locally and in the rest of Africa," he concludes.
