The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced the finalists in this year's Exporter of the Year competition.
Janine Myburgh, president of the Chamber, said entries were once again of a high standard - this was clear evidence of the remarkable contribution exporters were making to the economy in these challenging times.
“The finalists in our 28th annual competition are an advertisement for innovation and that is one of the things we desperately need to shake up the economy and get back onto the growth path,” she said.
The finalists are, in alphabetic order:
All Women Recycling, a Muizenberg company which makes and sells a variety of gifts and gadgets made from plastic waste.
Ayama SA, which makes and exports wine.
Caffenu which makes cleaning capsules for coffee machines.
Cape Cookies which manufactures confectionary.
ELE Trading markets and exports fresh produce.
Elim Spa Products
Folio Online, a translation service for Africa and the world.
Kallos Exporters, which procures and distributes fruit and vegetables.

The 11 finalists will compete in seven categories. There will be an overall winner and trophies for the best engineering or manufacturing company, the best non-engineering or non-manufacturing company, the best small exporter and trophies for Excellence in doing business in Africa, Design, Innovation and Transformation.
Certificates will also be presented to three outstanding businesswomen who participated in IWEC (the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge).
The Gala Dinner will be held on Thursday, 18 October, at the Westin Hotel, Cape Town.
