Awards include two World Luxury Awards - Luxury Hotel 2011 and Best Luxury Wellness Spa 2011'for the refurbishment of the 86 room Oyster Box Hotel in Durban; an International Hotel Award - Best International Small Hotel Construction and Design 2011 for the 24 room eco friendly rain forest resort Nyungwe Forest Lodge in Rwanda; and a Spa Traveller Award - Best International Spa 2011' for the Twelve Apostles Hotel in Cape Town.
The firm has also received a selection of coveted magazine awards in 2011 including The Long Beach hotel in Mauritius which has been named The Best New Resort Hotel 2011'by Hotel & Lodge Magazine; and The 100 Best Hotels in the World 2011'by The Sunday Times Travel Magazine and Best for Family Friendly Resort 2011 in the Harpers Bazaar UK, Bazaar Lux Island Resorts. The Kensington Place boutique hotel in Cape Town has been awarded Best Urban Boutique Hotel by Tatler Magazine and was chosen as the Travellers Choice 2012'by Trip Advisor.
Company co-founder Keith Mehner says that the firm has become very well known for its design excellence and that these awards are testament to that. "Recognition in the form of these awards is a great way to mark our tenth year of operations in which time we have completed noteworthy hotel projects in 11 countries throughout Africa, Europe and the Indian Ocean region."
Mehner says that the firm's collective offering is extensive. Keith Interior Design/M2K Architecture has designed over 1,500 hotel rooms for leaders in the Hospitality field including The One and Only, Kempinski, Rosewood, Red Carnation, Sun Resorts and Fairmont.
