First National Battery - the driving force behind SA's motorcycles
Managing director at First National Battery, Dr Louis Denner says, "There are about 360,000 motorcycles registered in South Africa. With 'kick start' bikes in the minority, it means that most require batteries to start."
According to Denner, meeting the diverse needs of motorcycles on the road in SA requires more than 50 different battery types. "These batteries have to be imported as it does not make economic sense to produce them in SA," explains Denner.
First National Battery is the exclusive importer of the Novelbat range of motorcycle batteries. This includes conventional, high-performance, maintenance-free, sealed 'activated' maintenance-free, and Gel Nanotechnology variants. Novelbat batteries are currently used in more than 12 countries and an impressive nine million units are sold in the replacement market annually.
"Some of these batteries are also suitable for use in quad bikes, jet skis, ride-on lawnmowers and even trolling motors for bass boats," says Denner adding that all motor cycle batteries distributed by First National Battery comply with the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system and the stringent ISO 14001:2004 environmental controls.
"At First National Battery we have ensured that ample stock is available throughout the country at highly competitive prices," says Denner. "All motorcycle batteries distributed by First National Battery are completely recyclable, so we encourage all commuters to return used batteries in order to avoid unnecessary pollution."
