BMW Motorrad exhibits at AMID Motorcycle Expo

BMW Motorrad SA is the dominant player in large capacity motorcycles in South Africa, and that position will be reflected at the AMID Motorcycle Expo, taking place from 8-11 August 2013 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec. A full range of BMW's newest motorcycles will be displayed.

BMW Motorrad South Africa imports and distributes the full range of BMW Models through its 23 dealers around South Africa, but the Expo will be an opportunity to see the best of BMW in one place, including an extensive array of its technologically ground-breaking BMW Rider Gear and Lifestyle Apparel.

In keeping with BMW's focus on safety as well as performance show-goers will be able to discover more about the German manufacturer's Rider Academy that offers rider training courses in the areas of off-road, safety and race track under the guidance of certified instructors. The programs allow both for different skill levels - from beginners through to highly experienced motorcyclists - and all types of motorcycling, whether off-road enduro riding, motorcycling on public roads or improving riding skills on the race track.

"The AMiD Motorcycle Expo gives us as a motorcycle brand the opportunity to showcase that we are more than just a motorcycle brand," explained BMW Motorrad SA's national marketing manager, Greg Coetzee. "We will be displaying two of our newest models at the show, the new R 1200 GS and the F 800 GS Adventure as well as selected motorcycle accessories and some of the newest rider gear available."

The new R 1200 GS is a major leap forward for a model which has consistently been the best-selling large capacity motorcycle in adventure-obsessed South Africa. More safety technology and a significant performance increase are designed to keep the R 1200 GS in its leading position in the adventure touring segment, though there is every chance that it will be challenged by its smaller cousin, the F 800 GS Adventure - the first time anything other than the 1200 has received the rugged "Adventure" treatment, designed to make it a truly go-anywhere motorcycle.
