New super-luxury Range Rover SUV set to arrive in 2021
According to Autocar, the all-new Range Rover will feature technically advanced powertrains, autonomous driving systems and an infotainment, to give it the edge over its rivals.
The new model will reportedly have ‘significantly lighter’ architecture, to allow for the extra heft of battery packs for hybrid and electric models.
The interior will have an updated version of the Touch Pro Duo system featuring two 10-inch screens that can be used simultaneously.
It will also have an advanced version of the Jaguar E-Pace’s Smart settings, which uses artificial intelligence to monitor occupant’s habits and adjust settings accordingly. It may also feature advanced autonomous driving systems and connected car technology which will allow drivers to unlock front doors, switch on lights, and even turn on TVs while driving.
"The rise in popularity of SUVs globally has made the market extremely competitive’’ says AutoTrader CEO, George Mienie.
“This year alone we’ve seen the launch of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, as well as recent announcements of upcoming models such as the BMW X8 and Audi Q9. The next-generation Range Rover will undoubtedly need to propel itself to even greater heights to maintain its top SUV spot", Mienie continues.
The Range Rover Velar won the 2018 World Car Design of the Year at the World Car of the Year Awards. The award highlights new vehicles with innovation and style that push established boundaries.
Will Land Rover, which turns 50 next year, set a new benchmark in the super-luxury SUV segment? We will have to wait and see.
