Global production of Mazda6 reaches a milestone
This figure was reached in 12 years and nine months after production of the first-generation Mazda6 began in February 2002 in Japan. Following the Mazda3, the Mazda6 has the second fastest time to reach three million units of production.
Since the first generation, the Mazda6 has stayed true to its original aim of offering driving pleasure, and along with Mazda's Zoom-Zoom brand message has been leading the Mazda's product line-up since its introduction.
Locally launched
The current, third generation and second model to join Mazda's new generation line-up Mazda6, which adopts the full range of SKYACTIV technology (the umbrella term for Mazda's range of next-generation technologies) and the KODO-Soul of Motion design theme, was recently launched in South Africa.
The fully redesigned model has received high praise in markets all over the world. It has been named 2014 Researchers' and Journalists' Conference Car of the Year in Japan and nominated as a finalist for 2013 World Car Design of the Year, claiming over 40 different awards globally.
Moving forward, Mazda will continue to develop products which offer all customers driving pleasure and outstanding environmental and safety performance, with the aim of enriching people's lives and becoming a brand that builds a special bond with its customers.
