Tolls backlash hits Gauteng Freeway Improvement Plan
Future phases for the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Plan have been put on hold amid controversy over the planned introduction of electronic tolls.
Gauteng's MEC for Roads and Transport says that tolls are needed to fund the additional construction work and without them the project might not be viable. The project seeks to upgrade all 560km of highways around the province and so far just 185km of this has been completed. Read more...
