Jaguar XF wins top award

The new Jaguar XF, which only launched in South Africa a few months ago, has won a prestigious international award for its interior design.

The XF was the winner in the Best Premium Car Interior category at the 9th annual Ward's Interior of the Year Awards ceremony in Detroit.

The Ward's awards programme continues to grow in popularity and prestige among carmakers and is the industry's only trade show and conference focused specifically on vehicle interiors. It spotlights the latest innovations in vehicle technology and design to help suppliers respond to increasing demands and changing consumer preferences.

The Jaguar XF was evaluated over a two-month period in eight specific interior categories: material selection, ergonomics, driver information, safety, overall value, fit and finish, and design harmony. Within each of these categories, the XF took top place.

“After all of the hard work from the Jaguar design team, it's really satisfying to receive this type of recognition for the XF," said Ian Callum, Design Director for Jaguar Cars. "The XF really represents the new design direction we are taking Jaguar and this recognition underlines that what we are doing is absolutely right for the brand."

With interior design that is equal to the exterior in terms of crafted execution and visual excitement, the new XF's interior ambience is enriched by crafted, luxurious materials, sophisticated instruments and calm interior mood lighting. Engineering excellence and attention to detail mean the XF's interior matches the best-in-class for refinement, while Jaguar's intelligent use of technology and driver-friendly touch-screen controls add new layers of comfort and ease of use.

Jaguar is pinning its hopes on the XF to extract it from the doldrums after its X-type met with mild market acceptance and resulting unspectacular sales.
