It produces 154kW and 280Nm and Audi says the new 2.8-litre accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds at sea level and is capable of a top speed of 238km/h.
But the main appeal of the new model will be its frugal fuel consumption of only 8.7 litres per 100km under standard conditions, thanks to Audi's unique new two-stage valvelift system.
Like the entire A6 range, the new model offers a high level of standard equipment including dual zone climate control, the MMI basic operating system, rain and light sensors, multi function steering wheel, cruise control, leather upholstery and servotronic steering.
A full complement of optional equipment is available on the A6 2.8 FSI as well as the S-Line, Exclusive, Sports and Executive Packages.
Without optional extras the new A6 is priced at R414,000.
