Milk flavouring straw launches in Namibia

Milk flavouring straw Sipahh has begun its expansion into Africa, with its first launch taking place in Namibia. In partnership with the Namibian Dairies, Sipahhwill be distributed across all retail and convenience stores nationwide.

"The decision to partner with the Namibian Diaries was a natural one," says Andrew Robinson, CEO of Sippah holding company Strawtech. "Namibian Dairies is seen to own the milk fridge and the partnership with Sipahh® will help to grow the milk space."

Having bought the rights for southern Africa, Strawtech launched Sipahh in South Africa in May 2006.

Namibia is now the fourth country in the world to launch Sipahh after Australia, South Africa and South Korea. "We are looking forward to expanding into the Indian Ocean Islands, Kenya, Mozambique and Botswana early next year," says Robinson.

Sippah has also recently partnered with John Dory's Fish & Grill restaurants in South Africa by introducing the straws to restaurant chain's kiddies' menu as a healthy alternative to soft drinks and milkshakes. "With Sipahh straws on offer, kids can now make informed choices without losing the novelty and fun," says Stamatis Kapsimalis, MD of John Dory's.
