CNBC Africa partners with Namibian Broadcast Corporation

CNBC Africa and the Namibian Broadcast Corporation (NBC) have sealed a partnership that will see quality business news content from the channel being broadcast across Namibia from September 2011. The agreement will also see CNBC Africa featuring more Namibian content on the 24/7 network across Sub-Sahara Africa.

Managing director of CNBC Africa, Gary Alfonso says the launch of the channel's content on a terrestrial platform in Namibia is a proud moment. "Distributing accurate and informative Africa business news to more local communities across the developing continent is part of the long term strategy of CNBC Africa", says Alfonso.

Director general of the NBC, Albertus Aochamub commented, "This agreement is strategic in nature as it adds to the fulfilment of our mandate and the business model we have adopted. This agreement will position the NBC rightfully in this highly competitive market and satisfy the business news niche in the local market".

Alfonso added, "Even more exciting about this partnership is the fact that we will now also be able to extract insights from Namibia's business and economic leaders through television interviews done live via satellite between Johannesburg and Windhoek. The upside to the Namibian economy could be huge".

This agreement will see CNBC Africa setting up a bureau at the NBC in Namibia, giving the channel the opportunity to source business and economic interviews from the country, while the NBC will have access to CNBC Africa's business news content and programming to distribute on its terrestrial platform.
