Boost for IT security in Namibia
BCX Namibia is a leading integrator of security product solutions and the new deal with Telspace will provide its Namibian customers with an end-to-end security solution throughout the system lifecycle. More specifically, this refers to attack and penetration testing, vulnerability assessment and security consulting for internal and external networks.
Telspace MD Dino Covotsos says, “This means that a client could utilise our services to check the security of their business from a ‘hackers’ perspective. Once the network testing is done, we provide a full report detailing all of the issues we have found. We then make recommendations accordingly so that the remediation process can start.”
Comments BCX Namibia’s Manager: Technology Infrastructure PJ Kotze, “Our core business is around networking solutions and the security portfolio. Our solutions are based on best-of-breed products but we don’t have the capacity for full time security staff because of the small size of the market.
“As one of the biggest service providers in Namibia, we have a major push to bring vital security solutions to our corporate customers and government sector clients. The significance of the deal is that we can now provide comprehensive security services based on the Telspace security solutions and recommendations. In the long term this will enable us to upgrade IT security in Namibia.”
Adds Covotsos, “This is the first time that we have expanded beyond South Africa’s borders with regard to selling our services, so it is a big step for us and a privilege for us to partner with a big company like BCX Namibia.”
Kotze observes that Namibian IT security standards tend to lag behind current global best practice. “We are trying to align our core customers with South African security standards,” he says. “Most of our customers don’t even understand the risks they are running today.”
Business Connexion Namibia (Pty) Ltd is one of the largest black empowered ICT companies in Namibia with a 26-year track record. It has offices based in Windhoek, Oshakati and Swakopmund with third party service providers in other major centres throughout Namibia.
