Moroccan startup support players come together

Key Moroccan startup support players have come together to promote a competitive innovation ecosystem in Morocco.
Moroccan startup support players come together

In the last three years, startups have been generating a growing interest in Morocco among public institutions, international organisations and corporates. At the African level, startups have managed to attract more than $1 billion in investments from international venture capital players in 2018, which clearly demonstrates their economic and societal impact.

Today, Morocco has the ambition to build a competitive startup ecosystem, and startup support structures will play a key role in achieving this objective.

In France, for example, ‎€200 million of financing have been injected into incubators and accelerators to position the country in the international startup scene.

    Promote a competitive innovation ecosystem

In this context, the Moroccan Startup Ecosystem Catalysts (MSEC) association aims at tackling the common challenges of the Moroccan startup ecosystem and promoting the interests of Moroccan startups. It will also work towards setting up professional and ethical standards within the ecosystem.

Impulsed by Enactus Maroc, Espace Bidaya, H.SEVEN - H7, IMPACT Lab, New Work Lab, RĂ©seau Entreprendre Maroc et Start-up Maroc, the MSEC association brings together all the startup support structures that have been certified by the Caisse Centrale de Garantie as part of the Innov Invest Programme, as well as the structures that have actively operated in the Moroccan ecosystem for more than 4 years.

As part of its action, the MSEC association will be able to leverage the experience of its board, which cumulates more than 40 years of experience in the startup ecosystem in Morocco, with close to 800 startups supported. The association will, therefore, be the key partner for public institutions and international organisations on all initiatives around entrepreneurship and innovation.
