P&P Link Saatchi & Saatchi win at AMEP awards

MAURITIUS: Saatchi & Saatchi's Mauritius office, P&P Link Saatchi & Saatchi, won a silver and bronze award at the recent AMEP awards at the Maputo International Advertising Festival hosted by the Mozambican Association of Marketing and Advertising in Maputo.

The two awards, both in the Social Responsibility category, were for its Road Safety Campaign. "We won a Silver award for our 'Death Calling' Road Safety radio commercial and a bronze award for our billboard campaign," says P&P Link Saatchi & Saatchi's creative director, Percy Beesoo.

    Creating an impact

"After so many Road Safety campaigns that ran during the past years, our challenge was to come up with something that not only stands out creatively but above all, creates an impact, touching the audience's emotions poignantly so as to eventually shift behaviour," adds Beesoo.

He adds that the agency was also nominated for awards for its Amnesty International print ad and two billboards for clients Eid and Divali for General Construction.

Beesoo says he is delighted with the accolades, which honour and recognise advertising agencies, producers and other communication companies from all over the world, especially from the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean regions.

    Africa Network Award winner

P&P Link Saatchi & Saatchi were also recently chosen as the winner of the Africa Network Award for first quarter creative submissions for the best creative work done in the first quarter of the year 2010.

Commenting on the awards and the Mauritian office's recent creative success, Saatchi & Saatchi group CEO, Gail Curtis says that this accolade shows what a great asset Mauritius is to the region.

"Saatchi & Saatchi is focused on growing the Africa region and strives to have a network that reflects the very best of Saatchi & Saatchi Global," she adds. "We have no doubt that we will start seeing much more award-winning work out of the network offices in the future."
