The president Pro-tempore of the Liberian Senate, Senator Gbehnzohngar M. Findley has called on the Liberian media to be more critical on government officials this year.

Senator Findley, senior senator of Grand Bassa County said a critical media in the country will remind government officials including lawmakers of their responsibilities to the citizens and the society. He recently acknowledged honors bestowed on him by several media institutions for his hard work and dedication to the state.

"What we observed over the years is that journalists have not been critical of us; you have to tell us our wrongs so that we can be reminded of our responsibilities," Pro-tempore Findley stated.

He said government officials on the other hand must be tolerant and mindful of their responsibilities to the nation and its people. The Grand Bassa County lawmaker then reminded media institutions in the country that negative reports against the state is not healthy for the country as the country belongs to all the citizens including journalists.

"If we are being criticized by the media, we must examine ourselves and get back on track as a responsible leaders," Findley averred.

He then praised the Liberian media for the good work in 2012 and admonished them to keep up with the job well done.
