Young Designers simulcast bookings openThe Design Indaba Young Designers Simulcast is intended to bring the wit and wisdom of the best of the best to young designers and students under 25 at a discounted rate. Celebrating the embedded story and grander message, the Fashion Arena at the Design Indaba Expo 2009 will again go beyond glossy pages, pouty models and the oh-so-passé catwalk. Presented by the SABC, this dedicated section will host all-day fashion shows, a film festival, Liquid Chefs cocktail bar and lounges, Pecha Kucha presentations at the end of the day, and a fashion boutique. 
The SABC has not only renewed its sponsorship of Design Indaba, but also its sole sponsorship of the Fashion Shows at the Design Expo, which runs alongside the conference, 27 February - 1 March 2009. 
Despite the tough economic climate, Design Indaba Expo 2009 has reported that it has grown with more than 60 new exhibitors and has secured more than 20% extra floor space since 2008. With a month to go until the event, already more than 100 buyers have pre-registered, including 70 international buyers. 
Javier Mariscal, Dunne and Raby and Marcel Wanders are some of the artists participating at Design Indaba 2009, taking place 25 - 27 February 2009 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Also, in association with Design Indaba, DJ Spooky will perform this weekend as part of the South African leg of his Sound Unbound Tour in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
