17 November: If you called your media owner sales representative in Gauteng right now, you won't get a response!
Why?
It's The Mediashop Annual Party and Harry Herber and Virginia Hollis have invited them to a themed party that began at 08hrs30 this morning and will end with last man or girl standing!.
The Mediashop boys and girls were challenged to dress up in themes and act out their favourite ads.
Virgin Mobile: Ashley Rametse, accompanied by several sexy angels, experienced a 'spanner in the works' when he was sent back to maintain his other cell phone contract.
Also notable were the Purple 'Zol' Team headed by daring MD, Ginny Hollis - there seemed to be strange scents wafting from outside the stadium (or was it from inside?).
The media owners spared no effort - Radmark and Gigasi, Heart, and Jacaranda, put on a great show; Primedia Outdoor put up a huge banner theming their act; NAB pulled the angels; Highveld's Big Man was in action; SABC and eTv competed - the eTv girls, looking awfully overweight, were hosting their Big Loser Show.
Hugh Farrell from Red Cherry is the man behind the microphone controlling, cajoling, and plainly threatening any team that failed to deliver. He and Tony Bannahan seemed to be developing a close relationship with the mike.
On form were the ComutaNet team lead by Marianne, and in form were the Pick-a-Box girls. Mediashop's teams were not shy - from 'F@$king Obvious' to Jailbirds, they excelled.
Says Harry, "The industry seldom lets its hair down, and this is the one day of the year that we say to hell with decorum, blast protocol, let's get together and share fun, hospitality and great thoughts."
