Combat those post-holiday blues

Feeling the post-holiday blues? Then why not get busy planning the next break/holiday/festival/adventure. Up The Creek is taking place at the end of the month and is the perfect reminder of summery holiday times. Anna-Bet gives her top five tips on how to stay and live well at this festival.

Fancy something further afield? Then perhaps a stay at the Tau Game Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve is just what the doctor ordered. Travel editor Brain Berkman reports back on his stay at this luxury lodge.

In theatre news, John Cooper and Chris Pollard give their thoughts on the classic production A Streetcar Named Desire, while Eugene Yiga reviews the spoofy whodunit', To Kill a Koeksister.

To cure your disposition even further, we're running two new competitions this week - tickets to both the Kirstenbosch Summer Concert featuring the legendary Johnny Clegg and the first Park Acoustics event of 2014 featuring Fokofpolisiekar are up for grabs!

Happy Tuesday!

Don Jon, not your average rom-com

Shan Radcliffe

It's been over four years since I've stepped into a cinema, and this hiatus has been filled with back-to-back animation on DVD or else, in the event I've actually managed to sit down for something not cute and fluffy, it hasn't gone without interruption from a waking toddler. It is so, that I have not missed the irony that my foray back to world of uninterrupted adult movies is based on that exact topic: adult movies. Read more >>

If koeks could kill

Eugene Yiga

I love a good television crime drama but what if the show went one step further? What if the murderer was sitting next to you or what if the next victim was you? That is the premise of 'To Kill a Koeksister', an interactive murder mystery comedy at Cape Town's Kalk Bay Theatre until 25 January 2014. Read more >>
