The Hives, Skunk Anansie to tour SA

From comedic geniuses to local film props to idyllic getaways and much more, we bring you all the latest lifestyle news this week. But first, hot off the press is the announcement of international bands The Hives and Skunk Anansie to both perform at this year's Rocking the Daisies and Vodacom's In the City festivals in October. In other music news, I review The Frown's second album offering, Teenage Swim.

British comedians, the legendary John Cleese and outrageous Eddie Izzard touched down in Cape Town last week for their respective SA tours. I review the informative John Cleese Live show, while Jordan Scott gets her cackle on at Eddie Izzard's Force Majeure.

In travel news, Rod Baker takes a walk on the wild side at the Lion Sands River Lodge, and Sindy Peters gets a taste for the vineyard lifestyle at the Alluvia Wine Estate.

Daniel Dercksen reviews local film Spud 2: The Madness Continues as well as interviews the cast and crew behind this popular book and film franchise.

Movies
Spud 2 rules with its own unique voice
[Daniel Dercksen] Spud fever is going to see temperatures soaring with the amped-up naughty frolics of South Africa's favourite Goodie Two-Shoes in Spud 2: The Madness Continues. Bursting robustly out of his spud-sized demeanour, Spud's coming of age is greeted with a wild-and-wicked gleefulness that adds stature to the first chapter. Read more >>

To the Wonder: an exceptional romance with life and love
[Daniel Dercksen] Terrence Malick's masterful To the Wonder is a compelling poetic exploration of love, the demise of humanity and spiritual and physical infidelity. The sublime madness of Spud 2
[Daniel Dercksen] Having followed Spud's explosive journey from page to screen since its release in 2011 - and subsequent interviews and visits on the set - my interview with author John van de Ruit, screenwriter and director Donovan Marsh, producer Ross Garland, and Troye Sivan who plays the title role, during the press junket of Spud 2: The Madness continues, felt more like a reunion, an informal chat and reconnection with the "Crazy Four". The Frown's "Teenage Swim", track by track

Eddie Izzard Force Majeure
[Jordan Scott] I truly believe there was a time in Eddie Izzard's life when someone told him to stop talking nonsense and he decided to do the complete opposite. If you've ever watched a clip on YouTube, seen one of his performances on DVD, or been lucky enough to see him live then you will know that this action transvestite has literally become famous by talking nonsense.
