| No Comment | I've seen most of my favourite rock stars in concert as they've visited sunny SA over the past decade or so, but rarely in my life have I seen the upwell of emotion that was present at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday as 3200 women, all dressed to impress, screamed for Oprah Winfrey as she entered a plainly dramatic stage, and proceeded to hold us captive for three hours - her only prop a microphone and her awesome personality. The floor vibrated under our feet as Oprah arrived, dressed in a simple green dress. Whatever you may think of her pop-psychology, I don't believe anyone who has ever met her or heard her speak, will walk away untouched. All I can say is WOW and well done to our publishing icon Jane Raphaely, O editor, Kgomotso Matsunyane and the Associated Magazines team for managing to get a window in Ms Winfrey's schedule to present her 'Live Your Best Life' road show here. And for those who didn't get a ticket in time to this sold out event - she has promised to come back, and I for one will be first in line to buy tickets!
Have a good one! Louise Marsland, Editor, editor@bizcommunity.com

| Joke of the day | | A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is politics?" Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the head of the family, so call me the Prime Minister. Your mother is the administrator of the money, so call her the Government. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the people. The maid, we'll consider the working class, and your baby brother, we'll call him the future. Now think about that and see if it makes any sense."
So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what dad has said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the maid's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the maid. He gives up and goes back to bed.
The next morning the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now." The father says, "Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about." The little boy replies, "The Prime Minister is screwing the working class while the government is sound asleep. The people are being ignored and the future is in deep $#&@!” Send to a friend More... Even supposing a young man of appreciable mental powers to be lured upon the stage, as philosophers are occasionally lured into bordellos, his mind would be inevitably and almost immediately destroyed by the gaudy nonsense issuing from his mouth every night." - H.
