Well, we all knew that the venue change for Loeries would be met with comment, but my goodness, it seemed as if most of the industry had got beach sand in their speedos this week, the way the messageboards were humming! It's credit to the industry it provoked such a reaction, showing how passionately the creative industry does feel about the Loeries - and not just from an awards perspective, but the whole concept. The general, anon comment was mostly negative, but Margate is a huge point-of-departure so that was not unexpected. Whether it's the right choice or not, only the morning after on 17th October will tell. But The Loerie Awards committee are to be given credit for their brave decision to break with the status quo and spread their wings... let's hope the awards soar... (okay, okay, enough bad Loerie puns) - we all hope it's a bloody good party and fabulous awards for even more fabulous work and that it all works out on the night!

Have a good one! Louise Marsland, Editor, editor@bizcommunity.com
