| No Comment | The headline news today that the petrol price is increasing to R5 a litre will have a marked effect on all aspects of the FMCG market as well as the more obvious. If this trend continues, there will be price increases across the board as transportation costs take effect. The question is - what will this do to consumer spending? And is this a danger to further interest rates cuts long term? There is also an opportunity here for creative marketers to try downplay the effect with innovative campaigns to show some value for money despite the rising costs of the average basket in store.
