SJAG 6th Sports Award moved to April 10
The event is meant, among other things, to award present and past sports personalities in recognition of their enormous contribution to sports in the country for the past year.
The fundamental mission and vision of the association is to enhance the development of sports journalism in The Gambia to the highest level possible.
The decision to change the date was taken by the award committee chaired by acting president Musa Sise, so as to help them better prepare and make the final touches for an award with a difference.
"The award committee comprises representatives of all media houses because the executive wants to make sure that all media houses are equally represented in whatever the association is doing."
Musa Sise added that the committee has already met and continues to meet potential institutions and individuals for them to join the sports journalists to celebrate and recognise The Gambia's sports personalities. Renowned guests from within and outside the country are expected to grace this year's award.
Already, a good number of potential institutions and companies have assured of their partnership in staging a successful award.
"Those institutions and companies that have received letters from the association have until 27 March as the deadline to come on board and celebrate with the association the country's present and past sports personalities, particularly the likes of The Gambia's finest and Africa's best referee Bakary Papa Gassama; the 1985 Zone II squad, and other renowned sports individuals."
This year's award ceremony will attract prominent dignitaries from in and outside the country, many of whom have already confirmed that they will grace the event.
