Want to be a better driver? Of course you do...
Not rolling backwards, crossing over stop street lines, and knowing how to signal with the hands are some of the things that drivers need to practice when preparing for the test. However, there's more to driving than just that. An advanced driving course is the next stage in improving their driving skills. This helps them gain experience and skills that they won't acquire during their driver's license test. Subaru offers such a course...
The advantages of completing a Subaru Driving Experience advanced driving course are claimed to be:
Improved driving abilities by making participants more competent drivers.
Drivers are taught how to determine what other drivers on the road will do and can therefore premeditate their driving actions.
Drivers may be able to decrease their insurance premiums depending on their plan.
It increases drivers' confidence so that they feel more comfortable and at ease on the road.
The usage of brakes, gears and clutch systems will be smoother and more responsive on the road. This could also improve fuel consumption.
It could help drivers avoid a crash.
What to expect during a Subaru Driving Experience
The company offers three types of courses:
1. Advanced Driving Course - Level 1
This course takes place at the Gerotek Test Facility just outside Pretoria. It begins at 8am and ends at 4pm. The course is structured to give drivers a better picture of the different obstacles that have to be dealt with on the road. It focuses on teaching drivers the different actions and reactions of other drivers. Completing this course also equips drivers with reaction skills that are useful in dangerous situations that could occur on the roads. Finally, drivers learn the minor abilities of their vehicles and how to handle their vehicles better.
Costs:
Driving your own Vehicle: R2,090
Driving an Academy Vehicle: R2,390
2. Advanced Driving Course - Level 2
This course also takes place just outside Pretoria at the Gerotek Test Facility , from 8 am to 4 pm. With a high emphasis on safety, this course teaches drivers the 'ins' and 'outs' of their vehicle and how to optimise fully every feature of their vehicle. Drivers can expect to do some insane drifting on the skidpan, and learn from company professionals the secrets of how to understeer and oversteer. All of this is done under simulated wet road conditions. It is compulsory to complete the Level 1 course before starting the Level 2 course.
Costs:
Driving your own Vehicle: R2,690
Driving an Academy Vehicle: R2,990
3. Off-Road Driving Course
This full-day course focuses on how to utilise a vehicle under off-road conditions to the maximum. Drivers will learn how to approach off-road obstacles, maintain control in bumpy situations, when to accelerate and brake in different off-road situations, as well as how to approach water hazards. As with our other courses, all of this is done in a controlled environment, with maximum emphasis on safety.
Costs:
Driving your own Vehicle: R1,990
Driving an Academy Vehicle: R2,300
So drivers mustn't just be content on passing their own driver's test. They should explore further opportunities that will assist them in driving professionally while having fun. It could help them to save their own lives or someone else's.
