Forget where you parked? There's an app for that

Dude, where did I park my car? Apple is apparently trying to answer that question with a new app that will work even when GPS reception is poor.

Technology rumour website Appleinsider revealed that a pair of patent applications discovered last week ''describe a system that automatically determines when and where a user parks their car, and later directs them back to the vehicle without requiring a data connection or GPS signal''.

Car-finder apps are not that new. Both Apple and Android have had them for a few years, but they require the user to have at least a few bars of signal.

Appleinsider said that Apple's patent applications show how the world's largest technology company plans to integrate highlevel vehicle-related functionality into its operating system.

This means your cellphone will talk to your car via Bluetooth or another type of signal to find your vehicle.

Or it could be as simple as determining when the car is in a "parked state" and then storing the location to help you navigate there on foot.

Applications at the US office for "automatic identification of vehicle location" and "vehicle location in weak location signal scenarios" were lodged last week.
