Kia's GT sport sedan teased ahead of Detroit reveal

Kia's first sports saloon has been previewed in a new video, highlighting some of the GT's design elements, including hood vents, quad tailpipes, LED lights and a chrome strip running alongside the back window.

The video is the third of four video teasers released by the Korean brand in the run up to GT sport sedan’s big reveal at the Detroit Auto Show on 8 January 2017. In addition to the teasers, there have been leaked shots of what’s likely a pre-production example.

Along with the video came the following statement by Kia: “Curiosity is the desire, the need to learn more. On the road, it is the fascination about what lies beyond the curve ahead. The curve, and the sense of curiosity, is also brought to life in the concave, fastback silhouette of Kia’s long-awaited all-new car. Inspired by a concept, Kia’s newest vehicle marries heart-pounding performance with purposeful and progressive design.”

While performance details haven't been revealed, the four-door rear-wheel-drive sedan is rumoured to be powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 generating over 360 horsepower. This is expected to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddles behind the steering wheel.

Previous teaser videos have showed the GT achieving 0-62 mph in 5.1 seconds making it the fastest-accelerating Kia to date, and reaching speeds over 150 mph at the Nurburgring.

Sporty cars have not been seen as a specialty of Kia’s, but the GT Sport Sedan is predicted to shatter this belief.
