Motorists to dig deeper for fuel
Based on the average unit over- and under- recovery and the implementation of a Slate Levy adjustment of 2.2 cents per litre on petrol and diesel, petrol - both 95 ULP and LRP and 93 ULP and LRP - will increase by 84 cents a litre.
95 ULP will now cost R13.23 per litre in Gauteng, while it will be R12.86 at the coast.
Diesel will increase by 78.20 cents per litre for both grades.
Illuminating paraffin will increase by 75 cents per litre and the Single Maximum Retail Price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 100 cents per litre.
The Maximum Retail Price for LPGas is expected to increase by 129 cents per kilogram.
The department attributed the reasons for the increase to the rise in Brent crude oil prices; the increase in the international price of refined petroleum products compared to the previous review period and the Rand weakening sharply against the US Dollar and contributing to an increase in the basic fuel price by at least 57.0 cents per litre.
