Registrations open for Young Moroccan Architecture Awards
According to the group, architectural practice in Morocco is reaching a decisive turning point as a growing fringe of the population is calling on the services of architects.
In addition, the opening of new public and private national schools of architecture has been followed by a growing interest in a career in architecture and a better recognition of the profession among the population. As a result, there has been a decrease in the average age of practitioners with hundreds of young laureates entering the job market yearly.
To honour these practitioners, stimulate their creativity, recognise their particularities and interests, and to give the most talented the national and international recognition they deserve, the Archimedia group launched the Young Moroccan Architecture Awards.
A festival of creativity has launched, allowing young architects under 45 years old to showcase the innovative projects they have designed to a wide audience, drawing interest from new clients and setting trends.
The jury, presided over by architect Taoufik El Oufir, will include professionals from Morocco as well as from Italy and France. Christian de Portzamparc, architect of the Grand Theatre of Casablanca, will be the guest of honour of the jury.
Registrations are open until 20 September on the YMAA's website.
