    Mapungubwe mine criminal case pending

    Responding to a parliamentary question, Minister of Justice Jeff Radebe said that a police docket regarding the breaking of environmental laws by Australian-listed Coal of Africa at the Vele Colliery had been forwarded to the national director of public prosecutions, Menzi Simelane, Fin24.com reports.

    Situated 7km from the Mapungubwe World Heritage site, the Vele Colliery had been constantly challenged by environmentalists who fear the mine will endanger both the Mapungubwe National Park, as well as one of South Africa's premier heritage sites where the golden rhino was discovered.
