The illicit dumping of toxic and hazardous waste off the coast of Somalia, which has largely destroyed the fishing grounds there, has been cited as one of the root causes of piracy in the Gulf of Aden and off the east coast of Africa, according to a report carried in Polity. 
South African fishermen are in danger of fishing themselves out of existence as at least 50% of South Africa's marine resources have been fully exploited, according to a report published in Business Report. 
Cape Town Harbour's A-Berth is providing a range of additional services at cheaper rates for the oil and gas service hub including steel and pipe fabrication, rope access, hydraulics and undersea services, according to a report published by Engineering News. 
Yet another ship has been hijacked in the Gulf of Aden by Somali pirates. This time it is the Greek-owned chemical tanker, Liquid Velvet with a crew of 22 and IOL reports that it was sailing under the Marshall Islands flag.
