With many people spending their entire working day in front of a screen or glued to their smartphone, easing the commute with a newspaper on the Gautrain or relaxing in the bath with a book after a long day are some of life's great luxuries.

A single umbrella entity, to be known as Multi Media Services Group (MMS), has been formed following Publicis Groupe's acquisition of the equity owned by various partners and the subsequent restructuring of this equity into a single empowerment partner across the larger group of brands in its South African-owned agencies. Taxi media owner Massiv TV and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) announced a R60 million equity transaction by the corporation this morning, Tuesday, 3 February 2009. The deal will see the IDC acquire 24% of Massiv TV, with a further percentage interest banked for an empowerment suitor. Massiv TV retains 51% of the business.

Provantage Media has announced the national rollout of Transit TV. An additional 500 taxis have been added to the fleet of 600 operational taxis in the Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Western Cape regions, bringing the total fleet running the in-taxi television station to 1100.
