Sentimental Valentine's spending and SAMW

With many celebrating the sentiment of Valentine's Day with their significant other this past week, Mastercard released its annual Love Index, which showed that South Africans continue to say "I love you" by investing in experiences over material goods. Sentimental spending has increased by 50% since 2015, with the number of e-commerce transactions increasing by 990% between 2015 and 2017.

SA's fashionable crowd gathered in Cape Town's City Hall last weekend for the bi-annual South African Menswear Week (SAMW). Meagan Duckitt shares her top 10 trends from the AW/18 shows, while Maroefah Smith interviews Steven Rosenbau, one half of the creative force behind luxury streetwear brand Rosey & Vittori about design inspiration and the future of SA fashion. Keep a lookout for ongoing SAMW coverage over the next two weeks!

With the water crisis never far from the minds of those in the Cape, the SACSC details how retailers and shopping centres are adjusting their practices and strategies to keep business running efficiently throughout the drought. Meanwhile, Sodastream SA has joined the call to action urging Coca-Cola to disclose its local water sources and to develop a plan to ensure Cape Town residents have access to water.

All that and more. Have an inspiring week!
