Celebrating 10 years of fashion

Headlined by international glamour model and businesswoman Caprice, South Africa's hottest models and celebrities came out to celebrate Elle South Africa's 10th birthday, along with sponsor Estée Lauder Pleasures - which also turns 10 this year - at the first of two lavish SA Elle parties. The second bash will be held in Cape Town this week.

Says Elle South Africa editor Jacquie Myburgh-Chemaly, "I am proud to be at the helm of the world's leading fashion magazine as she celebrates her tenth birthday in South Africa. The Elle team has done a brilliant job of giving our anniversary issue (the April edition) a beautiful new look and we hope all our sexy, stylish and spirited readers are going to love it.

"Fashion is all about what's hot, stylish and affordable, and this is what Elle promises her readers. Under the directorship of South Africa's most stylish fashion editor, Jackie Burger, the Elle fashion pages will continue to inspire women to shop cleverly and dress stylishly."

Ten top local designers were commissioned to create exclusive designs epitomising the Elle woman: Black Coffee, Stoned Cherrie, Amanda Laird Cherry, Kluk, Clive Rundel, Maya Prass, Colleen Eitzen, Lunar Clothing, Hip Hop and Marion & Lindie. Their creations debuted at the party and will be auctioned live on the Elle website on 8 May 2006 and the proceeds donated in total to the Estée Lauder Breast Cancer Foundation.

Vanessa Carreira, Kuli Roberts, Dion Chang, Penny Lebyane, Lee-Anne Liebenberg, designer Julian, Sandy Ngema, Kim Engelbrecht and James Dalton were among the fashionistas who made their entrance on the SA Elle red carpet at new nightclub, The Palms in Rivonia. Festivities included a quirky toast from Myburgh-Chemaly and a tango from Strictly Come Dancing runners-up Michelle Garforth and Harold van Buuren, with TV and radio personality Gareth Cliff as the MC.
