The annual Apex Awards, hosted by the Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) is open for 2011 entries to ACA member agencies and their clients. The closing date is noon on 14 February 2011. Entry fees have not been increased and will cost R1650 excluding VAT.

Next year's awards have a new sponsor, Oracle Airtime Sales, together with M-Net. "With our new sponsors on board, not only will we deliver a bigger and better Apex season, we will work hard to award much needed bursaries to students of the AAA School of Advertising. Our aim is to award more bursaries than the four awarded last year, from funds raised through the event," said ACA CEO, Odette van der Haar.

Entries are judged in one of the three categories and winners are awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes in each category.

  • Launch - for brands or services that are less than 12 months old with no significant history of advertising.
  • Change - for new campaigns from previously advertised brands, which resulted in significant short-term effects on sales and/or behaviour - short-term being within a period of no more than 18 months.
  • Sustain - for campaigns that benefited a business by maintaining or strengthening a brand over a long period e.g. 36 months.

To allow for consistency of standards across categories, the jury may award as many or as few Gold, Silver and Bronze awards as deemed fit. This also applies to the award of a Grand Prix which is selected from the Gold award winners.
