Creative commendation

South Africans are a creative and passionate bunch, however these skills are often under-sold, especially among our musicians. Day one of the
Music Exchange conference saw international musical greats; Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and Tim Renner both urging local musicians to believe in themselves and promote themselves with more conviction. And what better way to give props to local musicians than with the SAMA's, check the just released list of talented nominees
here!
In more examples of local creative greatness, both
Chef Adrian Cook of Shimmy Beach Club and South Africa-born dramatist Nicholas Wright are praised in their respective spheres. Cook, for his new winter menu, and Wright, for his current production;
A Human Being Died That Night.
In other news,
Tori Amos is confirmed to return to SA in June, I interview
Ross Jack about his latest successes, while Jordan Scott sits down with
Blackbyrd ahead of their performance at K-Day. The
SAFTAs nominees are announced, as well as a call for nominations for the
Gauteng Sport Awards.
New competitions this week see you stand the chance to win two tickets to next Sunday's Kirstenboch Summer Sunset Concert featuring
Desmond and the Tutus and Shortstraw, two tickets to the
Celebration of Bubbles Festival in Sandton and two tickets to
Jack Parow's album launch at the Assembly!
