Show profile Hide profileThe Heavy Duty Mechanic repairs, overhauls, maintain and services company heavy equipment, such as diesel powered pumps, automobiles, heavy trucks, pick-up trucks, heavy construction equipment, excavators, loaders, dozers, etc.
Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
Fabricates, constructs, installs and repairs company heavy equipment and machinery.
Diagnoses and troubleshoots equipment problems and determines repairs needed.
Repairs, overhauls, maintain and services on company heavy equipment.
Repairs, overhauls, maintains and services fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, engine control systems, major internal engine repairs or overhaul, installation and alignment of engines and machinery.
Repairs, overhauls, maintains and services drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, vehicle brake systems, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering.
Cleans, lubricates and performs other maintenance work.
Determines extent of repairs required.
Adjusts equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
Performs daily safety and maintenance checks.
Tests repaired equipment for proper maintenance.
Communicates the order of material/ parts required to complete repairs.
Selects the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of the work.
Operates all tools and equipment in accordance with CDLP safe work practices and procedures.
Installs repaired parts into equipment, or installs new equipment.
Dismantles machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
Maintains daily records, including maintenance reports and documentation.
Cleans up work areas, equipment, supplies and materials. Applies standard housekeeping practices and procedures.
Responsible to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner according to CDLP policies and procedures.
Must wear, and participate in the ongoing training of, the required PPE for this position.
Responds to emergency situations as necessary.
May assist, lead and train, or instruct, others in the work.
Provide quality customer service to our external and internal customers.
Lead by example with integrity.
Other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the practices, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the performance of mechanic work as assigned.
