Your career needs a fresh start?

Right, you got your bonus in December so that's under the bridge and now you are feeling sort of...you know...restless. So rather than the devil you know, you are coming around to the thought that this could be a good time to make a change.

Well before you do, Juliette Attwell has some words of advice for you, on making a fresh start and she also clarifies what constitutes valid reasons for leaving your present job.

Still on careers, it seems managers at Telkom might be wise to dust of their CVs and update them because it appears that up to 1,000 managers may face the axe. Some cuts were apparently expected, but Telkom's chief executive, Sipho Maseko's comments to the Bloomberg news agency suggest deeper and more far-reaching cuts than many had imagined.

Planning a trip to Limpopo? Make sure you get your anti-malaria medication beforehand and make sure you are aware of the symptoms. Why? Because the Limpopo authorities have issued a travel warning, following a malaria outbreak.

Finally...some good news, and let's hope it stays that way and doesn't degenerate into the 'tragic-comic' farce of last year...It is reported that...wait for it... the delivery of school textbooks is on track for 2014.

It is common knowledge that supplying textbooks to learners countrywide is fraught with challenges. Let's make sure what happened last year never happens again.

Our school children deserve every chance they can get.
