Chris Cramer, managing director, CNN International says: "We are delighted that the 10th awards are moving to Nairobi. The move brings with it confirmation that this is a truly pan African event and, having joined forces with MultiChoice Africa, we are looking forward to this being one of the most memorable events, particularly as 2005 also sees CNN celebrating 25 years as the world's pioneering news provider."
To mark the 10th anniversary of the competition, CNN and Multichoice added a general news Lusophone category thereby expanding the competition further to include entries in Portuguese from Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and Sao Tome and Principe.
The judges for 2005 are: Dr Doyinsola Abiola, Managing Director Concord Press of Nigeria; John Battersby, UK country manager of the International Marketing Council with responsibility for promoting South Africa; Joel Kibazo, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Commonwealth Secretariat; CNN's Lagos bureau chief, Jeff Koinange; Arlindo Lopez, Managing Director Mozambique TV; Evelyn Shasha Ndimbie, Freelance Editor,Consultant and TV news anchor for the Cameroon Radio Television Corporation, CRTV; and Onkgopotse JJ Tabane, SAA Vice President - Communications and Government Liaison.
