Big up Big Concerts

Seems like Big Concerts listened to the multitude of prayers and have added Grammy Award-winning rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers to their recent list of international headliners to visit South Africa. RHCP will be performing in Joburg and Cape Town in February 2013; tickets go on sale this Wednesday(JHB) and Thursday (CT). Next up Foo Fighters perhaps, here's holding thumbs.

In other music news Justin Williams reviews Haezer's new EP track by track, the MK Music Video Project 2012 top 12 are announced, and the lineup announced for the folky White Mountain Festival.

On the culinary side of things we are pleased to welcome Nina Timm, editor of blog My Easy Cooking as one of our new Food & Wine contributors; Nina will be sharing a weekly favourite recipe, first up is her Fruity Chicken Casserole. In other foodie news, I review the recently opened Reserve Brasserie.

In travel news Brian Berkman found out what Singita's CEO; Mark Witney loves about the bush, and reviews the Tsogo Sun's Southern Sun Waterfront hotel.

Eugene Yiga and Debbie Hathway both give the low down on what's happening on the local stage. JM Coetzee's adaption of Waiting For The Barbarians and award-winning Cabaret are both highly recommended by Yiga, while Hathway is impressed by the international stars at Cape Town City Ballet's Raymonda.

New competitions this week include two tickets to White Mountain Festival, Wrestlerish, The Plastics and Matthew Mole at Mercury, and the chance to win one of five KFC Idols hampers.

Elegant dining at Reserve Brasserie
[Ruth Cooper] Lavish elegance tinged with timeless trendiness and topped with a kiss of romance is what the newly opened Reserve Brasserie, as part of upmarket club The Reserve in Adderley Street, is all about. Comforting casseroles
[Nina Timm] It is the time of year when mornings are slightly chilled and evenings are darker and colder and it is definitely time to think of soups, stews and steaming puddings. Go underground with Zama Zama
[Daniel Dercksen] Zama Zama is a refreshing new South African film that breaks away from worn-out conventions and tired clichés, and goes underground. Not underground as in the Warho sense, but really deep underground into the underbelly of illegal miners, where men are imprisoned by greed and poverty, and their hope for survival is fuelled by resolute rebellion. "The Wrong Kid Died" track by track
[Justin Williams] Haezer's latest EP, "The Wrong Kid Died", is a giant step forward for the South African electronic music scene. Having been released on Steve Aoki's Dim Mak label, this will definitely start making overseas listeners appreciate more what our local artists are doing and take them to a global stage. Come to the Cabaret!
[Eugene Yiga] After KickstArt's production of Cabaret premiered in Durban last August, it went on to win 11 Mercury Durban Theatre Awards.
