The new home of Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre

Uitsig has been very fortunate in that they have found an amazing property in Melkbosstrand with a number of private investors that contributed a portion of funds to secure the property. The farm is a 40 hectare property that is located on the R27 close to Melkbosstrand.

'We are getting so much more than what we ever thought we would be able to have with this property. We all have had dreams of what our ideal rescue centre would look like and with this property we can envisage all of them and change the face of animal welfare in South Africa.
We have plans to provide our animals with a wonderful and safe, more self-sustainable environment to live in until they get adopted by their forever families.' said Willemien Viljoen from Uitsig.
This amazing property will enable Uitsig to do the following:
The basic infrastructure is already in place, thus we can transfer our horses and pigs across immediately and we only need to build our dog camps and catteries in the new location to transfer the rest of the animals in our care;
Doggie camps with a layout that will enable potential adopters to see and interact with all the doggies up for adoption;
The improvement and growth of our current cat village in an area designated solely for this purpose;
Within the next couple of years we will be erecting a fully functional animal welfare hospital on the premises that will be able to provide medical treatment to all animals and other AWO's from the surrounding areas;
We will be able to grow our own vegetables for use on the farm and, if enough is produced, to sell to the public;
The hall can be rented out for functions (or as a 'pet friendly wedding venue) and we will be able to have all our functions in-house to ensure our own sustainability;
The coffee shop will be able to provide sustenance for our visitors and an additional income for the centre;
The current houses will be used, once we have set up, for overnight accommodation for volunteers that come from further afield to stay with us and volunteer for a longer term and for potential adopters that need to travel a further distance to meet their potential new furry family member;
A dog park that will allow people to bring their own animals to socialise with other doggies and run and play to their heart's content within a safe and secure area;
Families will be able to come and spend the day with us - order a picnic basket from the coffee shop, have the kids play in the play area and interact with the rescues and then go for a walk and a picnic next to the dam.
