Making Mandela Day last longer

Mandela said, "And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." This is what Mandela Day is all about - the very spirit of the day asks for more of us. Mandela Day means so much more than 67 minutes of giving back; it inspires us to want to change someone's life by means of taking action for the greater good.

Nelson Mandela Foundation thanks the world

After the first Mandela Day in 2009, Mandela thanked all who had supported it. He said: "It is our hope that people will dedicate their time and effort to improve the conditions within their own communities. We thank you for participating in Mandela Day".

Mandela Day at Arup delivers scarves for children

As part of their 67 minutes contribution to Mandela Day today, 18 July 2014, the Arup staff joined in a knitathon to create colourful scarves for the children of Nomthandazo Childrens Care Centre (NCCC) in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni. This is one of the Oliver's House projects and it cares for 22 children from the surrounding area in a warehouse, offering pre-school education.
