Yarona FM 106.6 opens new studios

Yarona FM 106.6, Botswana's youngest radio station, is this week celebrating its first five years of broadcasting with the opening of new state-of-the-art studios in the upmarket Fairground Mall complex in Gaborone.

XStation Manager Dumi Lopang, who is largely credited with the station's recent successes, says that the studio opening is the first phase of upgrading and improvements that they have been implementing over the past year.

"This upgrade in studios and equipment takes Yarona forward to our next goal which is to complete our broadcast coverage of virtually all of Botswana's urban and commercial centres. We are in the process of acquiring the necessary licences and are now establishing our national logistic network which we expect to have completed within the next few months."

He added that Yarona has seen a growth in its advertising space sales of over 200% in the last 12 months following the implementation of their new business strategies.

Yarona FM is a youth-oriented station that sprung from a relationship in its early years with Johannesburg's YFM. Its programming features a popular mix of hip-hop, rap, Kwaito and other hit music formats.
