Salzburg residency programme for Market Photo Workshop students

In association with the Market Photo Workshop and Camera Austria, students and alumni of the Market Photo Workshop are encouraged to apply for a two-week residency programme at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts (ISBK). Applications close on Friday, 9 March 2012, at noon.
Salzburg residency programme for Market Photo Workshop students

The project is open to any student or alumni who have studied with the Photo Workshop since 2007. Students who have travelled internationally with the Photo Workshop cannot apply but those who have only travelled to SADC may apply. The organisers are particularly keen to see women and alumni apply.

All are welcome to attend a briefing session on Wednesday 29 February at 1pm at the Market Photo Workshop.

    Explore the Summer Academy

The selected photographer will explore the Summer Academy and its context and will develop and carry out a photography project dealing with the Summer Academy, the courses, the locations, the surroundings, the atmosphere and the city from 16 July to 25 August 2012. The photographer is required to present his/her project at "lunchtime talks" during the residency and, at the end of the project, handover an edit of the project to the ISBK. These requirements will also apply in South Africa. Previous recipients were Thandile Zwelibanzi in 2010 and Jay Caboz in 2011.

Subject to certain conditions, the residency will cover:

    • Travelling expenses - return airfare from South Africa to Austria and any required train travel. Visa and passport fees will also be covered.
    • Accommodation - the photographer will be provided with a single room in a guest house
    • The ISBK can also provide health insurance, if required.
    • Honorarium - The honorarium will be €1000 per week, €2000 gross.

A panel of judges appointed by the Market Photo Workshop, including panellists from Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts and Camera Austria, will participate in the selection process. Applicants should be prepared for Skype interviews with project partners.

Submit applications by email to az.oc.pohskrowotohptekram@neikeb and copy to az.oc.pohskrowotohptekram@momelom.
