What an enormous experience and journey it was to design an award-winning stand for an exceptional company like Sandvik Mining and Construction. From design conception through to breakdown; teamwork, dedication and a passion for design proved to lead to ultimate success.

Sandvik Mining and Construction set out a brief in April 2013, for their stand at the Bauma Africa Mining show 2013 to be held at Gallagher Convention Centre. An enormous task as the stand was not only outdoors, but also 1125 square meters.

Upon receipt of the stand brief, the challenge of designing an exceptional outdoor stand that demonstrated everything that Sandvik stands for and showcases their new product line to the best ability was taken up with a great deal of eagerness.

It is not an easy task to design for an outdoor area while having to consider the natural elements and chosen materials, however with the right production team, designers and project managers on site, anything is possible.

The Exhibitionist Cc embraced this challenge and presented the team at Sandvik Mining with our design proposal that certainly did not conform to the standard outdoor designs. The stand had the most impeccable finishes and consisted of a kitchen area, store room, boardroom, three main lounge areas which were all open to the large bar which was the centre focus. The stand also had a raised section for their Rock Tools display and a Wi-Fi counter to utilise. The stand was based on a slope of the ground and had stairs surrounding it, which led onto a gravel area that showcased Sandvik Mining's latest machinery.

The design team of The Exhibitionist detailed the stand incredibly well considering elements such as a water feature, a glass unit in the front counter to place miniature models of each machine and side podiums to demarcate the Sandvik space with flag poles at the entrance walkway.

The stand was open and welcoming and made a perfect fit for the clients who utilised the space. The official launch of three new machines from Sandvik Mining was held on 19 September at the Bauma Africa show. The Exhibitionist team coordinated the event as well, which involved large reveals, pyrotechnics and a large party afterwards to celebrate the overall success of a spectacular project.

On 21 November 2013, at the annual EXSA awards, which has been dubbed the "Oscars of the Industry", The Exhibitionist Cc was awarded the Best Outdoor Stand of the year award for the Sandvik Mining stand at Bauma Africa. Two awards were given this year for this category. An incredible honour that we are very proud of. The Exhibitionist also achieved this award in 2011 for the outdoor Suzuki stand in conjunction with Penquin.

The team at The Exhibitionist Cc, feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to work so closely with all the staff at Sandvik Mining on this project and with the carpentry team. The amount of hard work, dedication, and passion that went into this project most definitely paid off, as everyone involved can be proud of this enormous achievement.
