Mango dedicates Lanseria-Cape Town route to Wi-Fi

Until 10 July, the vast majority of flights on this route will be enabled with the G-Connect In-Flight Wi-Fi service; thereafter throughout its network. Mango is the first African airline to offer the service.

"The take-up has been exceptional," says CEO Nico Bezuidenhout, "with a good number of travelling guests making use of the service at this time, and the number is growing fast." He says that pricing levels from R50 per flight has ensured that the service remains accessible to all parties travelling. "The most popular in-air activities seem to Facebook posts and Twitter status updates at the moment," he says, "with high data traffic on email as well." Bezuidenhout expects the high social media usage trend to continue.

Bezuidenhout says that the final stretch of the beta period is in sight, with Mango's entire fleet expected to be online toward the end of the year. "On-board connectivity represents a major change in air travel, as the world moves toward a digital life, and seamless business and social interaction has become a reality."
