Movement on the Protection of Information Bill
SANEF adds that in order to do so, the committee must provide an opportunity for consultation with civil society, community groups, trade unions, religious bodies and media representatives. It will make submissions to the NCOP on its outstanding areas of concern.
The FXI has added its disapproval to the growing number of institutions that have condemned the voting in favour of the bill in its current form. In a press statement, it states, "We call on the NCOP to apply their minds when the bill comes before them and to consider sending the bill to the constitutional court for review. At the same time, we call on President Jacob Zuma to do the same when the bill comes before him."
"We thank all those who came out in their numbers either in support of the SANEF Black Tuesday campaign or in support of the [Right2Know] pickets. We further encourage all those interested to join the right to know campaign at www.r2k.org.za."
