Media24 sells Zigzag to Jingo

Media24 has sold the iconic South African surf magazine, Zigzag to Jingo, an independent, owner-run media company.

"It is is the fourth oldest surf magazine in the world and has a pedigree stretching back 38 years," says Jingo's Andy Davis, who has been a regular freelance contributor since 2001. "We are now the caretakers of one of the most enduring and powerful icons in South African surfing and credit must be given to Media24 which has done a great job of growing the title through some very trying economic times."

"It was an honour to have been the custodian of such an iconic brand," says Jacques Breytenbach, GM for Media 24 Lifestyle Magazines. "We wish the team all the best for the future in their new home at Jingo."

"The magazine is a South African surfing institution and we are very proud to follow in the footsteps of founders Doug McDonald, Mike Larmont, Paul Naude and stewards Craig Sims / Atoll Media and most recently Media24," adds Davis. "The company takes this responsibility seriously and it looks forward to the challenge of growing this great magazine so that it can continue to serve both South African surfing and the surfers."

Jingo also publishes the outspoken South African youth culture magazine Mahala and produces bespoke content for a range of corporate clients.
